January 15, 2016 - Oma

I want to remember this about Oma (my grandma)...

I called her the other day about something, but she didn't pick up.  When she called me back, I couldn't talk either, so she left a message.  In her message she said something like, I saw that you called so I wanted to know what I can do for you?  Is there anything you need me to help you with?

I just thought it was so sweet that she is still asking what she can do to help me.  That woman serves like no other.  I want to serve as much as she does when I'm her age.  She is critical and sometimes lacks tact, but she is so giving and I love her so much.  I can't wait until she moves back to Arizona so I can see her more often.  Having her and my parents living in Colorado is the worst.

January 15, 2016 - Emma & Ollie Pink, Phone, Tomato, Teefs, Onions

Some favorite moments from the past few days...

Jaxon and Henry were talking about their homework and Emma said, "I have homework.  My pink one."

Emma was talking on a toy phone and said, "Cinderella?  Hi Cinderella...... Ok, love you, bye."

For his snack, Ollie asked for an apple.  Upon hearing this, Emma asked for a tomato.  I cut up and an apple and a tomato and they both ate them.

Ollie randomly told me in the car the other day, "Mom, all my teefs are toofs."

I was making dinner the other night and the onion I was cutting was really making my eyes water.  "Ag, my eyes!" I said.
"Are they hurting?" Ollie asked.
"Yes, from the onion."
"Well, don't look at it!"

November 7, 2012 - Kit Kat

Today my favorite moment was when my oldest, Jaxon, was picking out a treat.  When he picked Kit Kat I said, "Mmmm good choice.  I love Kit Kat." Then he broke and gave me half.  What a sweetheart!

November 4, 2012 - What Henry Smells

Today my favorite moment was when Henry said in a disappointed tone, "I smell...[dramatic pause like he is trying to figure out the scent he is picking up]....my farts!" Like he was surprised it gross or something.  It's just funny the things a four year old will say.

October 17, 2012 - Two Brothers

Today my favorite moment was when we were at the store and I was ready to go so I started to walk away and Jaxon wasn't following so I told him bye, and Henry said to me, "Don't leave Jaxon.  I want two brothers!"

October 16, 2012 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment was after I got off the phone with my husband at 5:21 and told him that I needed him home because I didn't feel good and the kids weren't behaving and I thought we had agreed that he would be home for dinner so he needed to come home now! Jaxon came over to me and gave me a hug and said, "Mommy, I'll help with the food." It was so precious that he wanted to help me when he could see I was having a mommy breakdown.  I knelt down and gave him a big hug and kiss and told him that he is so special and wonderful to help me.  These moments make all the breakdowns worth it.

October 15, 2012 - Motherhood

Today my favorite moment was when I read this...

It reminded me that my feelings of inadequacy don't come from my God who loves me.  They come from an opposition who wants to destroy my self worth and my family.

I'm so thankful for my opportunity to be a mother.  It is difficult in more ways than I imagined, but wonderful in even more.

August 20, 2012 - Homework

Today my favorite moment was when I was helping my 5 year old do his homework.  We found out we had been doing wrong for the first few days and I'm so glad that we were dong it wrong because it was taking forever!  I guess we had been doing too much. So, now that we are doing the correct  amount of work it is so much better.  He liked doing it and I liked helping.  He was excited to learn and work with me.  We also made the rule that the rest time movie doesn't come on until homework is done so that really helps too.

August 17, 2012 - Great Idea, huh?

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon was telling me about his plan to hide his untucked shirt from his teacher at school.  He said, "I zipped up my jacket so she couldn't see that I didn't tuck in my shirt.  It's a great idea, huh?"  I just laughed because he thinks he is so clever and that he also thinks he has great ideas.  But we are really going to have to get him to understand he's got to tuck it in...

July 12, 2012 - Indoor Hobby

Today my favorite moment was when I told my husband he needed to get an indoor hobby because it has been so hot and he tackled me to our bed and said with a smile on his face, "I have an indoor hobby."  I should have seen that one coming.

July 10, 2012 - What to Expect Movie

Today my favorite moment was watching What to Expect When You're Expecting.  It was hilarious!  Seriously, the whole theater was laughing out loud!  Of course, it's especially funny if you have kids, but would still be funny if you don't have any.

I do with pushing part of the natural childbirth scene was more realistic, but I am a little biased when it comes to natural birth;)

July 9, 2012 - Baby Names

Today my favorite moment happened when Devin, my brother, my dad, and I were discussing baby names.  I said I like the name Eleanor, and also want to use the middle name Ann, but when Eleanor is shortened to Ellie and put with Ann... Ellie Ann... it sounds like alien.  As I explained this my dad said that kids will find something about any name to make a joke about.  I said how do you make fun of Ardell?  (his name)  He said, "Smar-fell."  Devin, Joshua, and I all started cracking up!  Seriously, who has ever heard that word?  It sounds hilarious and it was hilarious when he said it because none of us expected it.  I love a good laugh especially when it's with people I love.

July 5, 2012 - Hike/Run

Today my favorite moment was when Devin and I went on a walk turned into hike turned into run.  We walked and talked for a while then turned off the road onto a trail and hiked a bit.  Then I got bored with hiking and wanted to run so we did.  I just love running.  I don't know what it is about running, but it is one of my most favorite activities in the whole world.

June 29, 2012 - Tetris

Today my favorite moment was when I was playing Tetris against my brother in law.  I hadn't played for years and we had a great time playing against each other.  No one knew I had Tetris skills.

June 28, 2012 - Girls Night

Last night my favorite moment(s) were at girls night!  It's so important for mommies to have time with their own friends.  I'm so blessed to have some fabulous girlies to play with!

June 26, 2012 - Grease

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon asked me, "Why is my skin shiny?"  I have no idea, so I told him, "'Cause you're healthy."  And he said, "Maybe because I'm starting to get grease like daddy."

Kid, you're only 5.  I sure hope you aren't already getting grease.

June 25, 2012 - Moon Pop

Background:  There's an Asian man in our grocery store who sells rice cakes.  This guy shouts, "Moon Pop rice cakes!" from his little booth near the sushi counter.  My kids think it's funny and when we pass him (and even when we are at home) they do impressions of him.

Today my favorite moment happened when my little guy Henry and I were at the grocery store.  Henry knew we were almost to the Moon Pop guy and he looked at me with a smile on his face and said excitedly, "He's gonna say it..."

June 19, 2012 - Potato Bug

Today my favorite moment was a conversation I had with Henry...

Henry:  "This potato bug out here is sad."

Mommy:  "Why?"

Henry:  "Cuz I drive on it.  That's why it's sad.  I was sorry for doing that."

June 18, 2012 - Always

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon walked in as I was getting ready and putting guy makeup on and he said, "Mommy, you look pretty."  I told him thank you and Henry said, "I want to see if Mommy looks pretty."  Jaxon then told Henry, "Mommy always looks pretty.  Always."  What a sweetheart!

June 17, 2012 - Cinnamon Roll

Today my favorite moment was when Henry was saying his prayers before bed and he said, "I'm thankful I could eat a cinnamon roll tomorrow."

Devin had made the dough but it wouldn't be ready to bake until after the boys went to bed so we told them they could have one tomorrow.

February 13, 2012 - A Punch in the Face

Today my favorite moment was when Henry was talking to his cat stuffed animal and told him, "You'll get a bum spank if you do that again."  Jaxon said to Henry, "No, Henry.  Cats don't get bum spanks."  "Okay," Henry said, "You'll get a punch in the face."  I started cracking up 'cause really, a punch in the face?  Woah.

January 31, 2012 - Jaxon Pants

Today my favorite moment was when I told Jaxon he needed to put pants on to go to school because it was cold today and if I let him wear shorts people would think I was a bad mommy and he said, "But you're not!"  He seemed so concerned that people might think that.  It was sweet he was concerned about it.  I just casually mentioned it, not like I thought he would even think twice about it.  I guess I need to remember they notice everything.

January 27, 2012 - Make the Bed

Today my favorite moment was this morning when Jaxon said, "Mama, I made my bed.  There's some wrinkles, but I tried my best."

First, it was SO thoughtful that he made his bed!
Second, how cute that he said there were wrinkles, but he tried his best?!  Adorable.

January 25, 2012 - Nursery to Primary

Today my favorite moment was when we were talking about how Henry used to go to Nursery but now he goes to Primary and he asked, "Is I am a nursery children?"  It's so fun when they try to put sentences together and they don't come out quite right!

January 24, 2012 - Old Lines

Today my favorite moment was when I asked Jaxon if he thought I was old and he said, "No, old is when you have lines on your face."

January 23, 2012 - Millie's Gone

Background:
My parents had to put down one of their dogs, Millie, because she was really old and sick.  They have another dog named Toodles.


Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon was asking about Millie and why she died.  After I explained, he said, "So, there's just Toodles alone?  Oh boy!"

And then Henry said, "Oh girl!"

January 22, 2012 - Henry

Today my favorite moment was when Henry said, "Mommy, smell my armpit.  Smell it!  It's not stinky 'cause I taked a bath."

January 21, 2012 - Sugar Bugs

Today my favorite moment was when Henry said, "Mommy, if you put your fingers in your teeth sugar bugs will eat your fingers."

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon said, "Yoda smells like soy beans because he is green."

January 19, 2012 - Oliver

Today my favorite moment was when I was giving Ollie kisses and he grabbed my face and kissed me back.  It was just so cute the way he put his hands on my face and played along with my lovin'.  He is such a happy baby and I am thankful everyday that he is my little guy!

January 18, 2012 - Henry

Today my favorite moment was when I told Henry to spit out the penny he put in his mouth and he said, "But I blowed the dirt off!"

December 28, 2011 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon said, "I'm gonna ride my bike 'cause I wanna have some healthy-ness in my body."

I'm glad he wants to be healthy and knows that riding his bike is good exercise.

December 24, 2011 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon was saying his morning prayers and he said, "I am thankful Daddy doesn't have to work all day."

Devin works every other Saturday and lately, every Saturday because of wrestling so it was cute that Jaxon was excited he didn't have to work at all that day.

December 22, 2011 - T Ball

Today my favorite moment was when we were taking about going outside to play t-ball.  We told Jaxon that we needed a T.  So, he got some paper and scissors and cut a T shape.  His innocence was so cute!!!

December 21, 2011 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon was telling me about Santa and he said, "Mom, did you know that Santa Clause smiles every day?"

I asked him why and he answered, "Because he gives away toys."

I'm hoping he knows we are happy when we give gifts, not just when we get gifts.

December 20, 2011 - Santa Knows

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon asked how Santa knows everyone's names and he answered his own question with, "Probably because Heavenly Father told him.  Probably he was blessed like that by Heavenly Father."

November 28, 2011 - Devin

Today my favorite moment was when Devin got home from work and when seeing that dinner wasn't done yet, he kindly said, "What can I do to help you?"  It was so wonderful that he offered to help rather than criticizing or asking why dinner wasn't done yet.  He is such an amazing husband and I am so blessed to have him!

November 23, 2011 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment happened when we were in the car on our way to Target.  As we pulled in the shopping center Jaxon asked why there were giant candy canes in the parking lot.  I told him, "Because it's almost Christmas."  He said, "But it's almost Thanksgiving."  I was so glad he realized that we need to celebrate Thanksgiving!  I agree that society skips Thanksgiving and we need to remember to be thankful!

November 14, 2011 - Henry

I haven't posted for a while.  I have notes for moments I want to record, I just haven't posted them yet.  But for those 2 of you who read this, they'll be a-comin'...don't you worry!

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon put an Ironman Band-Aid on his face and asked Henry, "Who am I?"  Henry went with the obvious, "Ironman!"  "Nope, guess again." Jaxon replied.  "Band-Aid Guy!"  Henry shouted as though he ingeniously guessed correctly.  

I'm not even sure who Jaxon was pretending to be.  I just started laughing at Henry's idea of a super hero!

November 1, 2011 - Skbeds

Today my favorite moment happened during dinner.  Henry spilled some water and Devin said, "Uh oh, spageds."  (Like "uh oh, spaghettioes" but abbreviated.)  Henry said "Uh oh, skbeds!"  It was just his cute little twist on the word that made us all crack up.  Jaxon was laughing so hard!  Henry loves to make people laugh so of course he kept saying it and Jaxon just kept laughing!

October 31, 2011 - Halloween Candy Bowl

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon stuck his hand in a Halloween bowl at the store and the pretend hand closed down on his and he got so scared!  It was hilarious because he didn't know I was watching him.  It really surprised him and he jumped back so fast!  The look on his face was so funny too!  Maybe I shouldn't have laughed, but I couldn't help it!  He thought it was funny too after the shock wore off, so I don't feel too bad for laughing!

October 30, 2011 - Henry

Today my favorite moment happened when I told Henry to clean up some toys.  He said that Daddy dumped them out so Daddy needed to clean them up.  I asked Devin if Henry was making stuff up and he let me know that earlier Henry sneakily had Devin admit to dumping out those toys for Ollie to play with.  Henry thought if Daddy dumped them out, Daddy would have to clean them up even if Henry played with them.  Nice try Henry!  I told him, "You are working the system, Henry."  He said shyly, "I'm not working for the system."  He had no idea what he was saying, so it was adorable!

October 26, 2011 - Trunk or Treat

Today my favorite moments were at the ward Trunk or Treat.  The little boys were so cute in their little Harry Potter and Superman outfits.  Ollie was in the lion outfit that both Jaxon and Henry wore when they were his size.  Jax and Hen dress up all the time, so they just picked something out of the box.  At first Henry put on one of Devin's brown t-shirts and said he was a monkey but luckily we convinced him to change.

Devin and I were made a mental note about how fun Halloween is with the boys at their ages because they absolutely love it all.

Plus, we are in a really nice ward and I got to visit with the ladies there so that was fun for me.

October 24, 2011 - Henry

Today my favorite moment was when Henry was looking at a stuffed animal that had been chewed on a little by the dogs.  He said, "Look at his ear.  The dogs chewed it up then pooped it out.  That what Jaxon told me."  Those two together are such a crazy pair!

October 20, 2011 - Henry

Today my favorite moment happened after we got home from running errands.  It was late, so we were skipping baths and just washing, hands, feet, and faces, and putting clean clothes on the boys.  When Henry learned he wasn't going to have a bath he asked, "Do I don't have a stinky bum?"  First, I love the way he forms sentences.  Second, I think it's funny that he thinks the reason he gets baths is because his bum is stinky.  I guess he is right though!

October 19, 2011 - Trampoline

Today my favorite moment was when the boys wanted to jump on the trampoline and I turned the water on and they went crazy with excitement.  It was so cute to see them jumping and laughing.  A few minutes later, I thought to move the trampoline to where the grass needed water.  Then, a more favorite moment was when I was struggling to move it while Jaxon and Henry watched soaking wet in the underwear and Henry said, "Mommy, I will help you."  He came over to help and Jaxon followed his lead.  It was so adorable that Henry thought to help.

October 18, 2011 - Healthyness

Today my favorite moment was after I got done running and Jaxon said, "I'm gonna ride my bike because I wanna have some healthy-ness in my body."  I'm glad he wants to be healthy.  I love that little guy!

October 12, 2011 - Cooking

Today my favorite moments were spent in the kitchen being Devin's sou chef.  He cooks, I clean up, Ollie eats in the highchair, Jaxon and Henry run around and play.  It was nice to have a taste of what life could be like if Devin didn't have to go to class after work or go to a second job.  Maybe sometime preparing and eating family dinner together will be our nightly routine instead of a special treat.

October 8, 2011 - Woah

Today my favorite moment happened when we were eating Jaxon's birthday cake.  I was at the table giving Ollie some Cheerios since he can't have cake yet.  He recently realized that he could pat the Bumbo tray and the food bounces.  He was bouncing those Cheerios seriously high and I said, "Woah, woah, woah, Ollie."  He started cracking up!  So, then it became a game.  I kept saying woah and he just kept laughing!  It was adorable.  And Jaxon is such a laugher and started cracking up too so then it was double cute because nothing is better than hearing my babies laugh.  I haven't heard Ollie laugh that hard before.  It was adorable.  Man, I love being a mommy:)

October 6, 2011 - Shadow

Today my favorite moment was when Devin's grandpa said to me, "What a lovely shadow you're casting."  It was such a unique way of telling me he thought I looked nice.

When we were talking about it, Devin said "Just 'cause you're old doesn't mean you don't see beauty."  He's sweet too.

October 5, 2011 - Running & Picnic

Today I had a few favorite moments.

Running.  Oh it was a beautiful day and I got to run outside!  I was going to go for 3, but then went for 6 because I was feeling so good!  For the marathon, my goal is to run 8:20 miles to qualify for Boston.  So I am trying to train around an 8:00 mile.  Today, I did the first 5 miles at that pace then did fartleks for the last mile and cut it down to 6:00.

Ollie.  When I got back from running I found Ollie in the kitchen.  I kissed him and went on to kiss Devin. When I left Ollie, he wined and said, "Ma."  Coincidence?  Maybe.  But it was still cute and made me happy.

Picnic.  The boys wanted to have a picnic for dinner, so we did.  We took our french toast and hash potatoes out to the shade in the front yard.  After eating we played duck, duck, goose and the boys had a ball!

October 2, 2011 - General Conference

Today my favorite moments were while I was watching General Conference.  I love being able to spend a lazy day at home with my precious family and listen to inspired counsel from the Prophet and apostles.  The day was fabulous!

September 30, 2011 - Henry's Dinosaur

Today my favorite moment was listening to my boys have a conversation about dinosaurs:

Henry, "I want to see a scary dinosaur that says 'Warrr!'"

Jaxon, "No, Henry.  He would eat you."

Henry, "No!  I would punch him!"

Jaxon, "But he would be too big."

Henry, "I would punch him in the tummy.  Haha!"

September 22, 2011 - Adore

Today my favorite moment happened when I was sitting in on a game of Scrabble with my brother, Joshua, and his friend.  Joshua said, "Oh my G.."  When he realized he said it, he looked at me and apologized a few times and I could tell he genuinely felt bad.  I appreciated that he was sorry for using a name I consider sacred in front of me.  But the best part was when he apologized again and said, "I adore you."  I was so surprised I wasn't sure he was talking about me so I asked in disbelief, "Me?"  "Yeah, you" he said and he went on to tell his friend that I ran a marathon and am doing another one and am "awesome" and a "great mom."  I could not believe he thought and was saying those nice things.  I had no idea he thought that about me.  It wasn't the fact that I was hearing all these nice things about me.  But what was really special was to know he truly liked me.  It seems silly, but if you knew me and my brother and our relationship, there have been times I wasn't even sure he liked me.  It really meant a lot to learn that he not only likes me, but "adores" me.  It was really sweet.

September 21, 2011 - Ruining My Life

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon said to me, "You're ruining my life!"  It wasn't really my favorite, but I want to remember he said that at age 4.  Yes, age 4.  As in f-o-u-r.  Like, after 3 and before 5.  I thought it was something teenagers say.  I literally laughed out loud when he said it because I couldn't believe it.  I even said, "What?" so he would repeat it and I could make sure it was really what I thought I heard.  People tell me that girls are dramatic, but I say Jaxon is pretty dramatic.

He said it because I told him he could not have more blueberries until he had eaten his cauliflower.  I guess that would ruin a person's life.  How could I?

September 20, 2011 - Knitting

Today my favorite moment was when I was working on my knitting.  My Oma [grandma] taught me a few days ago the knit stitch and today we worked on the pearl stitch.  It was exciting to learn a skill I didn't know and then work at it and see the result.  It's fun to learn something new as an adult.  It seems like we are always learning new things as kids, but as adults, unless we are in school, don't really learn new things very often.  So, learning is fun:)

September 19, 2011 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment happened after we had finished eating Burger King for lunch and I told Jaxon to get a drink and he asked, "To wash down all that junk?"  How great is it that he thought the food was "junk"?  Haha!  The wisdom of a 4-year-old!

September 9, 2011 - Dumbledoor

Today my favorite moment was when Henry was saying his prayers.  He said, "Thank you for Jaxon and Ollie and Mommy and Daddy and Dumbledoor.  Name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

I'm thankful for Dumbledoor too, Henry.

September 8, 2011 - Jaxon Sugar Tears

Today my favorite moment happened while Jaxon was having a little fit.  Earlier today, Henry had scratched Jax right below his eye so during his fit, his tears were washing over it.  While crying, Jaxon said, "Mommy, my cut hurts.  Why is it hurting?"  I told him that tears have salt in them and salt burns cuts so his tears were burning his owie."  He said back, "Why do tears have salt in them?  Why don't tears have sugar?"

Well, I don't know the answer, but it's a good idea.

September 2 [again], 2011 - Oma

Today my favorite moment was while I was talking to Oma in the car.  She needed me to take her to pick up some medicine.  In an effort to make conversation on the drive, I asked her what one of the most special moments of her life was.  Without more than a moments pause, she said, "When I got married."  She continued, "Second was when I went through the temple."  I almost couldn't speak because it brought tears to my eyes.  I was so emotional for a few reasons:  I felt so blessed that for me, those moments were the same... marriage and temple.  Also, because it has been a while since my Opa died, we don't talk about him as much.  It was nice to feel how much she loved him.  And then to hear how important the gospel is to her was amazing too.

It was fun to hear to tell about the day they were married in a church that her father in law built the pews for.  And about how many of the 150 guests were their friends from their folk dancing group.

I should ask her questions more often.

September 2, 2011 - Friday Night

Today my favorite moment was just the whole evening.  Devin didn't get to see the boys at all yesterday so it was especially special to spend the evening together tonight.  It is amazing how different the spirit is in our home when we can be together as a family as oppose to when Devin is gone.  The greatest blessing is to be able to be a family forever.  I am so amazingly blessed.

August 31, 2011 - Late Night with Ollie

Today my favorite moment happened after I went to bed.  When Ollie woke up in the night to be fed he kept coughing so I just held him for a while.  It was sweet to hold him since he is at the age where he doesn't like to sit still anymore.  I wasn't sure if he was awake or had fallen back to sleep, but I just held him.  After a few minutes, he lifted his head and gave me kisses!  At his age, he just opens his mouth and puts it over my mouth, but those are his kisses and I love them!  After his little kiss, he put his head back down and stuck his thumb in his mouth to go to sleep.  What a sweetie!!!

August 29, 2011 - Henry At the Temple

Today my favorite moment happened as we were wrapping up Family Night.  We talked about the temple, showed them our temple recommends, and read some of President Monson's talk about temples from this past conference.  So to reinforce the points discussed, Devin asked the boys, "Where is the most important place we can go?"  Henry was dressed in his little Superman shirt with his cape on, sitting cross-legged on the couch as he answered, "At the temple."  It was adorable!  I pray every day that our boys will have strong testimonies to lead them to the temple where they can make and keep covenants so we can live together as a family again!  I know that is the only way we can truly be happy.

August 18, 2011 - Noogie

Today my favorite moment was when Henry decided to give me a noogie.  I always tell the kids I don't like it when they touch my hair.  But, today when he decided to give me a noogie and say, "Noogen-stein!" I couldn't help but be so grateful for that little cutie bum!

August 17, 2011 - Good Kissin'

Today my favorite moment was when Devin got home and gave me a kiss.  But it wasn't his everyday "Hi honey, I'm home" kiss.  It was a serious "I really love you and missed you and wanna get biz-ay" kiss.  He always wants to get busy, but for some reason I appreciated him showing it today.

August 16, 2011 - The Solution to A Stinky Bum

Today my favorite moment was when I overheard Jaxon and Henry talking.  Jaxon gave Henry some good advise: "Your bum stinks.  If you take a bath it won't stink."  He's right.  At least about the second part.

August 14, 2011 - Last Birthday Celebration

Today was my birthday Sunday dinner.  Devin's family came over and made me a beef roast, veggies, noodles, gravy, and fruit.  Devin made a (frosting-less) chocolate cake from scratch and mocha ice cream (coffee free).  It was all a.mazing!  The food was fabulous and the company was even better.  It was such a fun week of alone time, Devin date time, and family time.  So far, it feels good to be 25!

August 13, 2011 - Cheese Party

Today my favorite moment was during our cheese party.  Yep, it was actually at Elisha and Josh's.  They got 9 cheeses from around the world for us to taste.  It was so fun!  We got a few ideas and plan on doing it again too!  It was so fun to visit with Josh, Devin, and Aaron about the creepy expired food store and joke about how weird, yet awesome it is.  Adult time is nice.  Laughing is even better.

August 12, 2011 - Buca Birthday Date

Today was great because I got some nice time to myself.  I love my boys more than anything in the world, but it is really nice to have some time for myself too.  Ollie didn't stay with Nana and Papa since he is still nursing.  He woke up at 6:00, which was kind of a bummer, but, after playing for about an hour, he went back to sleep until 9:30.  So...so did I!  It was so great!  I n.e.v.e.r get to sleep in so it was really, really, really nice!  Every once in a while Devin will get up with the boys on the weekend and let me stay in bed, (and even then my sleep is interrupted with noises from the boys playing) but pretty much since Ollie was born, I'm up early to feed him every day.  So, anyway, I really enjoyed the peace and quiet that allowed me to sleep in.  After a nice workout and playing with Ollie, I put him back down for his nap and was able to do some playing with my new phone to get it set up and synced with my desktop.  Uninterrupted computer time is also something I don't enjoy much of, so that was really nice too.

After Devin got off, we dropped Ollie off with Nana and Papa and headed out for date number two for the week.  Multiple birthday celebrations are so great.  I don't think I've celebrated my own this many times in one year before, but I think I want this to happen every year!  It was once again so wonderful to spend the time with Devin.  Having him gone Monday through Thursday nights (and every other Saturday) is really hard for me.  I love when we get time together.  Our date was amazing, then we picked up the kids and headed home just in time to watch an episode of Smallville, only one of the best shows ever!

We still have our movie gift card (none of the times worked for our schedule today) and my pedi gift card for next weekend.

August 11, 2011 - My Birthday

Today is my birthday!  I had lots of favorite moments.  The first was when I went out to the kitchen to get breakfast and saw the bowl of cream of wheat Devin had made for me.  It's one of my favorites!

Later, Devin came home for lunch and made sure the boys' meals were all taken care of - including dishes!  Then, my mom took me, the boys, Jeni, and Joshua all out for ice cream.  We got Thrifty ice cream, which was super yummy!  Poor Ollie was jealous he couldn't have any yet!  He just got Cheerios!

After coming back from ice cream, I got ready and took the boys to spend the night at Nana's so I could go to my Relief Society meeting since Devin wouldn't be home to leave them with.  I opened my present from the family of a nail salon gift card (for a pedi), a movie theater gift card, and dinner gift card to my favorite, Buca de Beppo, plus free babysitting!  Another date night!

So off to Relief Society I went, happy to know I would have the day to myself (and Ollie) until Devin got home from work when we would go out for another date together!

And...between there sometime my mom and dad brought me a cupcake with a candle so I could make a wish.  It was sweet.

That night, Nana had to call because Jaxon was upset that he forgot to give me my birthday card.  What a sweet little boy!  He told me he did not want me to be sad and think he forgot about my birthday.  I told him I knew he did not forget because he gave me super big birthday hugs earlier and it would be okay for him to make a card tomorrow.  He feet better after we talked for a little bit.  That boy has such a tender little heart.  I hope he stays sweet and kindhearted.  I am so blessed.

August 10, 2011 - iPhone, Deli Dinner

Today I had a few favorite moments.  One was when I went to the Verizon store to get a new phone.  Mine has been in serious danger of completely dying and I have been putting off getting a new one.  So, I finally went to get one and my brother came along.  I was set on getting one without a data plan and sticking to the cheapest options, but then I started playing with the iPhone.  We have a few apple products and love them all.  I knew I would want an iPhone if I really knew all it could do.  It was really fun to sit and listen to my brother explain tons of advantages, options, and features of the iPhone.  So, I gave in and I am so glad I did!  I love it!  But, the best part about getting my new amazing phone, was the fun my brother and I had in the store together.  We don't have many moments like that so I really enjoyed it.

Then...after getting my awesome new phone, my brother dropped me off to have dinner with Devin.  It was a birthday date dinner at The Deli.  We love that place and this time was no different.  Devin told me about work and we talked about some of our future plans.  Every time I get a date with Devin, I am reminded how amazing he is and how much we belong together.  Date nights are the best!

August 8, 2011 - Where Daddy Lives

Today my favorite moment was when we drove past the school Devin teaches at and Henry pointed to it and said, "That's where Daddy lives!"  I corrected him, "No, that's Daddy's work.  Daddy lives at home with us."  "NO!  Daddy lives at his work too!"

It wasn't really my favorite moment, of course, but I want to remember it.  I think it's actually a tad bit sad that Henry thinks Daddy lives somewhere else.  I mean, I know Devin is gone a lot, but even if it's late, he always comes home.  I guess there are days when the kids don't see him at all.  Working 2 jobs and taking classes for a Masters Degree is serious business.

July 27, 2011 - Fight Free Four Hours

Today my favorite moments were when Jaxon and Henry went from about 2:00 to 6:00 without having one. single. fight.  They have been fighting about everything lately.  But, by some miracle, they played so wonderfully together today!  They used to always play so good together, but lately they have been fighting a lot.  It was so great to see them play together like they usually do!  Really, it was SO great!!!

July 25, 2011 - Workout

Today my favorite moment was when I got to workout.  It felt so good on my body.  I worked out last week too so I was a little sore and it felt so nice to push my body.  It has been difficult to find time workout since Ollie was born.  Making time with 2 kids wasn't so bad, but for some reason, having 3 kids has made it almost impossible to make time to exercise.  Between naps and meals and everyone's schedules...it's serious.  But, exercising is something I absolutely love doing.  And, it makes me happier when I do it.  It's so important.  Anyway...yes, today my favorite moment was exercising!  Yea for sprints and weights!

July 20, 2011 - Bugging Me

Today my favorite moment was after we put the boys to bed and Henry yelled from their room, "Jaxon is bugging me!"  So we went in to check and Jaxon was asleep.  Really, Henry?  You are so silly!

July 18, 2011 - Family Night

Again, my favorite moment was during Family Night.  My boys are so crazy sometimes, but when it comes to being reverent at Family Night, they are usually pretty good.  Their little testimonies are so precious.  I just love it!

July 14, 2011 - Reminder

Today my favorite moment happened when Devin and I went to the temple.  It seems like lately I have been hearing a lot of bad news, like the world is a real ugly place.  I have gotten tired of the negativity and it has been wearing on me.  Then going to the temple tonight I felt hope again.  Of course the world has problems, but there are many wonderful people and ways to serve.  I felt like even though circumstances can get difficult, the trying times on earth do not compare to the blessings we will receive if we are diligent and faithful.  I am grateful the Lord gave me a reminder.  It's important that we stay positive!

July 13, 2011 - Thunder Down Under

Today my favorite moment was when Devin and I were getting in the shower and he claimed he was from the show "Thunder Down Under" and started dancing around.  It was just hilarious!  The "Thunder Down Under" was a Las Vegas show that ran a few years ago.  We were trying to get to the airport and kept going the wrong way thanks to this giant billboard advertising for the show that kept distracting us with shirtless men in bow ties.  Ever since then we've joked about that ridiculous billboard and Devin loves to dance so he combines the two and it's a great comedy combo!

July 11, 2011 - Warm Cozy Cuddle

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon and I were in a "warm cozy cuddle."  The phrase is from the book Playful Little Penguins (retitled Penguins to the Rescue).  It's a cute little book where they penguins play all day then go to sleep in a "warm cozy cuddle."  Anyway, Jaxon wanted to cuddle so we climbed in my bed after bath and cuddled for a few minutes.  He told me about when he grows up he wants to live on an island where there are dragons and he will be a viking.  He assured me he'd come to visit me often because he would miss me.  (He favorite movie right now is How to Train Your Dragon.)

I love these little moments when my boys aren't wrestling or fighting or being crazy--the moments we talk and I see glimpses of their sweet spirits and their greatness.  I know they were saved for these days.  I pray every day that I can teach them the things they need to know so their testimonies will be strong and they will be valiant to the end.

July 9, 2011 - Henry's Saguaro

Today my favorite moment was when we were walking out of the doctor's office where Ollie had his immunizations.  Henry was trying to tell me something but I didn't really understand.  "Mommy, that's swore-o.  That's swore-o."  When I finally figured out he was saying "saguaro"  I was so excited because we recently read a new book for bedtime stories called The Seed and the Giant Saguaro, where he learned about saguaro cacti and because he recognized a real one all on his own meant that he learned!  I always love it when my boys learn something, no matter how small.  It helps me feel successful and like all my efforts pay off little by little.

PS  The Seed and the Giant Saguaro is a great book and it's fun to read.

July 8, 2011 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment happened during dinner.  The kids and I were eating (Devin wasn't home) and Jaxon ran out of the room.  When he came back, he had the Book of Mormon in his hand and said we needed to read scriptures.  Devin usually gets the scriptures for family study, but since he was gone, it was sweet that Jaxon remembered and wanted to do our family reading.  I hope my boys always have a testimony and strive to do what is right.  I know doing so will bring them happiness.

July 7, 2011 - Ollie

Today my favorite moment was when I put Oliver down for bed and he looked up and gave me the cutest smile and reached up to me.  I kissed him and told him goodnight.  He smiled again, rolled over to his left side, stuck his thumb in his mouth and went off to dream land without a fuss!  I am so thankful he is such a happy baby!!!

July 4, 2011 - Curtain Rod

Today my favorite moment was when I was feeding Ollie and heard something crash.  In the hallway I had a few curtain rods waiting to be put up and it sounded like one of them fell.  After the crash I heard Henry say, "Mommy, look!"  I said, "What happened?" giving him the chance to explain it in his own words.  I was pretty sure I already knew what happened.  "I didn't bonk it down.  It just falled."  Okay, sure you didn't...

July 1, 2011 - Le Reve

Today my favorite moments happened through the whole evening.  My BFF Joy and I went to see Le Reve.  We had a buffet dinner at the Wynn before the show.  It was so great to visit and catch up.  I miss hanging out with her since she moved away.  We talked about all the mommy stuff, wife stuff, and just living stuff.  Plus, the show was amazing!  It was a fabulous night out!

June 28, 2011 - Canoe

Today my favorite moment was when I was out in a canoe on Palisade State Park with Devin, Jaxon, and Henry.  The water was beautiful.  The little boys were so cute in their life jackets.  Jaxon was adventurous and loved every minute.  Henry was scared at first and got upset that his feet got wet but I made him go on the canoe anyway.  He ended up loving it.  We all did!

June 27, 2011 - Polio

So, this is a long story and it's late so I will write it all out tomorrow, but it was a great moment and it involved Devin making a joke about something someone said to me at church yesterday.  I know you are all on the edge of your seats.

June 26, 2011 - Jaxon

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon asked Devin at church, "Daddy, when are you going to be bishop?"  Wow, I believe sometimes kids know stuff.  Hm...I wonder if Devin will be someday...

June 22, 2011 - Moving Day

Today my favorite moment was after I put Ollie to bed and had a moment to myself in our new house.  I felt happy.  And peaceful too.  It was nice to feel a tiny bit settled with my baby in his crib, in his room, in our new house (though the house is full of boxes and furniture that needs to be put into place).  After such a long and stressful time deciding all the details about moving, it is nice to finally be moving on and moving in!

June 20, 2011 - So Much Farts

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon said out of the blue, "I don't know why I have so much farts today.  That's so gross."  Just stated it like a fact.  No shame.

June 18, 2011 - Henry Skywalker

Today my favorite moment happened after Jaxon refused to give me love and I told him, "Please be sweet to your mama."  Henry came ran over and gave me a hug and said, "I'm Luke Skywalker 'cause I'm sweet to you."  Sometimes that little two-year-old makes me want to sell him to the circus, but most of the time, I wouldn't sell him for anything in the world!

June 15, 2011 - Laser Thermometer

Today my favorite moment happened when I was digging through our kitchen utensil drawer looking for something (I don't even remember what it was now) and I pulled out Devin's laser meat thermometer and asked why he needed it.  He took it from me and pointed it to my butt and said, "Ten million degrees."  Then moved it up and pointed it at my boobs and said, "Ten million degrees.  Yep, sounds about right."  That guy is always making me feel beautiful.  It's just one of the many of qualities I love about him!

June 14, 2011 - Henry

Today my favorite moment was when we were about to walk out the door and all of a sudden Henry yelled, "Oooohhhh!  My pants keep falling down!!!" We looked and his pants were down around his ankles while he held his Darth Vader toys in his hands.  His little bum just doesn't hold them up!

June 11, 2011 - Henry

Today my favorite moment was when Henry was playing with some figurines of characters from the movie Beauty and the Beast.  He kept singing, "Booty and da Beast...Booty and da Beast..."  It was just so cute!

June 9, 2011 - Picnic Henry

We had another picnic today.  We have been so busy getting ready to move I feel like I haven't been hanging out with my boys as much as usual.  But we took a break for the picnic and I was so glad I did.  My boys are so cute and sweet.  Henry came and sat on my lap and let me hug him.  Usually he'll give me one kiss and run off, but he was so cuddly.  And he even shared his "juicy box" with me.  Henry is a little Daddy's boy so it was sweet for him to give me some special love.

June 8, 2011 - Picnic

Today my favorite moment was when Jaxon packed a picnic basket with "juicy boxes," apples, cherries, and saltine crackers for a picnic.  We went out in the shade in the grass at Granny's with Granny and Gramps.  We ate our snacks and played Duck, Duck, Goose.  Henry had my bite the pits out of his cherries and Jaxon had me hand out the unbroken crackers.  Ollie sat and smiled like he usually does.  The weather was warm, but nice in the shade and the grass was green.  We all had a fun time!

June 6, 2011 - Jaxon Post Getting Sick

Today my favorite moment happened after Jaxon threw up.  That part was sad and gross, but after he was cleaned up and stopped crying I heard him telling Devin, "Daddy, I was like Nephi and did not complain when I got sick."  It was so precious!  He has a book that tells about how Nephi was a good example because he did not complain.  It was sweet that he remembered the story and was trying to be like Nephi!

June 1, 2011 - Tax Appointment

This was from a while ago, (obviously--tax season) and I found the file where I had typed it to post.  I completely forgot these things happened.  That's why I have this blog!

My first favorite moment happened today on the way to our tax appointment.  Jaxon and Oliver were laughing at each other in the car.  Their car seats face each other so they can talk and play.  It was so cute to hear Jaxon's strong laugh and Ollie's little baby laugh at the same time.  My kids' laughter is the best sound in the world.  It was a tender little moment.

Then, I had another favorite moment today during our tax appointment with the accountant.  This is not so tender, but comical...  Devin and I were wrapping things up to leave and Jaxon totally farted.  Like, a loud one.  He thought it was funny, of course, but the adults in the room were trying to ignore it.  Eventually I smiled and giggled a little, mostly because Jaxon's laugh is so contagious.  The accountant was definitely trying to hold it in, but he did end up cracking a smile and laughing.  Gotta love kids with no shame!
